Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I BELIEVE EVERY PERSON DESERVES TO HAVE SOMEONE EMPOWER, SUPPORT AND ADVOCATE FOR THEM.
I believe that we all need connection and space to heal and learn that is non-judgemental and comfortable. Every person has a story and it is important that we have a space to share that story and help the healing/ learning process. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space that people can be their truest self. I believe that building a trusting and positive relationship with my clients is one of the most important aspects of the therapeutic process.
My passion is working with children, adolescents, and young adults on the Autism Spectrum, as well as working through depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use disorder, childhood trauma, life transitions, and social skills.
In my practice I aim to be culturally competent with all populations I work with. I use a strength based approach while using evidence based therapy models. I am trained in Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma informed practice, mindfulness, and solution-based therapy. I utilize emotional regulation strategies, play therapy, and mindfulness exercises.
Along with being a therapist at Rooted I am a school social worker working with both the general and special education population. Outside of work I spend a lot of time at my kids' extracurricular activities but in my down time I enjoy spending time with my kids and husband outside or dancing in the kitchen. My favorite place is my camper or any of the Great Lakes. This is where I feel most at peace and my favorite form of self-care.
Education: I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Spring Arbor University and my Bachelors Majoring in Applied Psychology minoring in Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention from the University of Michigan-Flint.
