Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE EVERYONE DESERVES A SAFE, COMPASSIONATE SPACE WHERE THEY CAN TRULY BE THEMSELVES.
It is my goal to provide that safe, compassionate space where you can feel heard, valued, and supported. Being vulnerable is scary. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment and build a genuine therapeutic relationship with you to make that vulnerability feel a little less hard. I am grateful and honored when clients invite me into their world and choose to share their stories with me. I will meet you where you are and walk alongside you as we collaborate to find your path toward healing, growth, peace, and balance. My hope is to make therapy a meaningful and purposeful experience filled with personal exploration, overcoming challenges, celebrating victories, and a touch of laughter along the way.
I specialize in working with adults and couples struggling with life transitions, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues, depression, trauma, disordered eating and body image, grief/loss, and stress management. I have experience and training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused therapy, EMDR, and Brainspotting. I am also a certified PREPARE/ENRICH couples therapy facilitator, which utilizes a comprehensive inventory to identify a couple’s strengths and growth areas to help guide the couples therapy process.
As a person-centered and strengths-based therapist, I view empathy, connection, support, and empowerment as essential components of therapy. Beyond that, I recognize and value that each client is unique so I strive to adjust my approach by drawing upon various combinations of the above methods as well as other skills and techniques in an effort to find the right fit for you and your goals.
Outside of work, I have a husband, 2 kids, and 4 cats that keep life busy and interesting in all the best ways. In my free time I enjoy jigsaw puzzles, home renovation projects, watching reality shows (or whatever Netflix series my clients have been raving about), listening to music, taking walks, watching basketball (Go MSU!!) and hanging out with friends and family.
Education: I received my Master’s degree in Community Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy from Western Michigan University and my Bachelor’s degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State University.
