Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN LIVES CHANGE THROUGH THE POWER OF CONNECTION.
My goal as a therapist is to foster healing and promote personal growth through genuine connection and psychoeducation. I believe that putting language to experiences and feelings is empowering, and building healthy, supportive, and accepting relationships with others is the foundation for transformational growth.
My approach to therapy relies heavily on humor and radical acceptance of the full self and the circumstances in which we find ourselves. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to guide clients toward identifying and accepting their truest selves, connecting with their deepest values, and increasing distress tolerance skills. I utilize evidence-based mindfulness practices and behavioral activation techniques to help clients reconnect with themselves and reach their goals. My personal and professional experience within the recovery community have made me particularly passionate about working with those who are struggling with substance use and advocating to de-stigmatize the experience of addiction. I also specialize in working with anxiety and depression, eating disorders, trauma, sensory processing sensitivity, LGTBQIA+, OCD, and family conflict.
Outside of my interest in mental health, I am passionate about gardening, cooking, reading, singing, kayaking and camping, and spending time with my husband and our pets.
Education: I earned both my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University.
