Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST TO CREATE A SAFE SPACE FOR CHILDREN IN WHICH THEY FEEL CARED FOR AND ACCEPTED FOR WHO THEY ARE - A HEALING SPACE WHERE THEY RECEIVE UNDIVIDED ATTENTION AND UNCONDITIONAL POSITIVE REGARD.
I am a neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. I foster trusting and meaningful relationships with clients and their caregivers using a person-centered and strengths-based approach, recognizing that this is fundamental for successful collaboration and growth. My support for neurodivergent children and their families includes education on the intricacies of the neurodivergent experience, fostering a positive neurodivergent identity, and encouraging self-advocacy and self-determination. I also work with children experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation, those who have experienced trauma, and children struggling to adjust to life changes.
The majority of my training comes from play therapy, where I’ve participated in both directive and non-directive training. I use techniques from Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Sand tray, mindfulness, and art therapy. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I am certified in The Alert Program to facilitate self-regulation. I do not use or endorse ABA practices.
When I’m not at work, you can find me with my partner and our dogs. I love to spend time outside playing ball, going on walks, and enjoying nature. My favorite place to be is on the water– lake, river, ocean, all of it! I love to kayak and read in my hammock during the summer. I recently started meditating, and I’m hoping to build more community this year through yoga and meditation.
I hold space for children and families with all kinds of communication styles, sensory needs, and preferences. This is a safe space for all, and all of your child is welcome in the playroom.
Education: I received my Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Louisiana State University, and I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Alma College.
