Hey there,
I AM A THERAPIST BECAUSE I BELIEVE WE ALL HAVE THE POTENTIAL AND CAPACITY TO LIVE IN THIS MOMENT WITH COMPASSION FOR OURSELVES AND OTHERS.
I believe in the healing power of self-compassion and human connection for every person. I am a person-centered and strengths-based therapist. I see each person holistically including mind, body, and spirit. I hope to acknowledge the mind-body connection and honor this through the therapeutic process. During therapy, I will work with you to identify goals and help you take steps to move towards your goals. I will listen non-judgmentally and seek to witness and understand your perspective and experiences. I work to provide anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ affirming care.
I specialize in working with individuals experiencing transitions to and through parenthood, pregnancy and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), relationship concerns, life transitions, depression, and anxiety.
I utilize concepts from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), EMDR, mindfulness meditation, emotionally focused therapy, and compassion focused therapy. I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and will integrate mindfulness-based approaches and movement as appropriate and desired by the client.
Outside of Rooted Counseling, I am grateful for the always adventurous life as a wife and mom of two elementary aged children. I love getting outside, being among the trees, running, walking, playing board and card games with the family, and talking with family and friends. I am always trying to bring myself back into the present moment and my yoga mat provides a quiet space for this.
Education: I have a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Anthropology from University of Michigan. I completed my Yoga Teacher Training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. I received training in Yoga for Depression with Amy Weintraub and am certified as a Yoga of 12 Step Recovery leader with Nikki Meyers.
