Hey there,
I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT DEMONSTRATING THAT EACH PERSON IS WORTHY OF DIGNITY AND RESPECT.
I believe that every challenge is an adventure and every adventure a good story to tell later. Our challenges and adventures can shape our character and help us to stretch and grow into the people we want to become. It isn’t easy and we could all use someone along the way to cheer us on, hear our frustrations and give us a fresh perspective. I have a passion for working with clients to help them to move towards their goals and make every day the best day it can be.
As a therapist I most often utilize Person Centered Therapy and approach each session in a holistic way, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I also utilize a Faith Based counseling approach with clients for whom it is important.
I have over 15 years of experience working with clients from a variety of backgrounds with issues of caregiver stress, grief and loss, terminal diagnosis, chronic illness, aging, life transitions, depression and anxiety. I also work with clients dealing with perinatal and women’s issues and have an in-depth understanding of working with all religious people, but especially with Christians/Catholics.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending quality time with my kids and husband, visiting family and relaxing with friends. I love sitting outside with a cup of coffee, gardening, and attending festivals and sporting events.
Education: I received my Masters of Social Work at Wayne State University and my bachelors of Social Work at Ferris State University.
