Hey there,

I BECAME A THERAPIST TO HOLD SPACE FOR ACKNOWLEDGING AND DE-STIGMATIZING MENTAL HEALTH.

I believe that mental health is an important aspect of the human experience that frequently gets overlooked and misunderstood. I believe that by acknowledging and holding space for mental health, that we can not only heal- but blossom. I am passionate about offering trauma-informed care and acknowledging systematic discrimination and stigma surrounding mental health.

From my time being a crisis clinician and medical social worker, I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorders, ADHD, neurodivergence, and personality disorders. While these diagnoses can be helpful in putting a name to a cluster of symptoms, I believe people are much more than a diagnosis. So, whether it’s working through a major life change, a recent traumatic event, managing chronic pain, experiencing grief and loss, or even just working through day-to-day life stressors- I strive to meet folks where they’re at as they learn to navigate the twists and turns that come with life.

Guided by a person-centered and holistic approach, I pull from a variety of theoretical lenses to inform my practice including systems theory, strengths- based approaches, biopsychosocial models, naturalistic and humanistic approaches, and psychoeducation. I have been trained in a variety of evidence- based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Outside of Rooted, I work as a medical social worker out of a primary care physician’s office, with folks who have newly been diagnosed with chronic health concerns. When I’m not at work, I can be found with my friends and family, working on the newest home improvement craft, or hunting down good eats!

Education: I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Wayne State University and my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University. GO GREEN!!
